1982 Dodge Ram D150
This (or at least what's left of it) is what I would call a time machine.
This Ram hearkens back to a time when trucks were used for one purpose and one purpose only - to work.
When this truck hit the road back in 1982, it was pretty inconceivable to think that a truck would have such "frilly" things like leather seats, power windows or cost more than a well equipped Cadillac.
A truck like this always brings me back to my adolescence, a time when I go visit to the neighbors down some back road bouncing around on a bench seat as big as our back 40, listening to the local country station on a crackly AM radio,
It was a simpler time and to be frank a much more honest time, and trucks like these reflected that - what you see is what you got.
This particular Ram was a basic Custom trim level that had (according to the history report) a 3.7 liter slat 6 engine and 2 wheel drive . As basic as basic can be.
This truck was based on a platform and engine that was first introduced in the early 1970's and stayed pretty much unchanged until 1994 when the look of the Ram changed to the more common style that we see today.
In short, when this truck was build in 1982 it was using technology that was developed in the 1960's, and it showed.
As kid growing on a farm, I often worked for our neighbors that had these trucks as their main farm vehicle.
I can remember the times I've driven one of these trucks over rutted fields pulling loaded hay wagons to the barn, or helping to load stubborn calves in back bed of the truck that had been converted into a livestock hauler with the addition of wooden racks that filled into stake holes in the truck's bed.
These trucks were built to do some tough stuff and creature comforts in the cab were never a priority, but they always did what they were asked to do with little complaint.
This particular truck doesn't really have any history to speak of. The history search didn't really come up with anything other than the basic specs of the truck, which would indicate that it has been off the road for a long time, and it's severely scavenged condition would suggest that.
From what I could tell, this particular truck really had no extra options, including the wheel coverings, based on the dog disk hub caps that were sitting on the seat.
An old soldier that is slowly fading away.
